Riverside along the River

Quiet and picturesque, the village of Riverisde is situated along the banks of the Des Plaines River, only 11 miles west of Chicago's "Loop". Riverside was designed in the mid-19th century by renowned landscape architect and designer of Central Park in New York City, Frederick Law Olmsted. Today, the charm of another era still exists among the tree lined winding streets illuminated by gas lights. The original homes were built on large lots and set back from the road in order to preserve a park-like setting. Many architectural styles coexist, including Queen Anne, Victorian, Cape Cod, Colonial, and Ranch. A number of Frank loyd Wright homes are located in the Village, including two designated as National Landmark Buildings.

Business District
The business district offering convenient shopping is small and quaint with the Metra Train Station located there. Communting time to Chicago's Union Station via the Burlington/ Santa Fe rail line is about 20 minutes.

Riverside is located 11 miles from downtown Chicago. The Eisenhower (I-290) and Stevenson (I-55) Expressways are only a short distance away for those wanting to travel by car. Midway and O'hare Airports are easily accesible.
