Quiet and picturesque, the village of Riverisde is situated along the banks
of the Des Plaines River,
only 11 miles west of Chicago's "Loop". Riverside was designed in the mid-19th century by renowned landscape architect and designer of Central Park in New York City, Frederick Law Olmsted. Today, the charm of another era still exists among the tree lined winding streets illuminated by gas lights. The original homes were built on large lots and set back from the road in order to preserve a park-like setting. Many architectural styles coexist, including Queen Anne, Victorian, Cape Cod, Colonial, and Ranch. A number of Frank loyd Wright homes are located in the Village, including two designated as National Landmark Buildings.
